A few weeks ago a mistreated dog was tied up and abandoned in Tividale Park – The dog was subsequently put down. Do you know who was responsible for this cruelty? If so get in touch – contact K9search (www.k9searchuk.com/) or contact the police direct.
Don’t forget, we are inviting all our members, volunteers, and groups who we have worked with as well as residents to join us for a meal and networking at the Toby Carvery on 12/12/2018. Meet for 6.15 and seated for 6.30pm. Come along – you are invited. See the banner on Tividale Park or the poster attached.
Following our AGM last month and election of our new committee this is our first regular meeting of our group in its 4th year as a constitutional friends group.
We are approaching autumn and soon to be Christmas so lets decide what we want to achieve in that period and by when

- (see http://www.friendsoftividalepark.org.uk/?page_id=1427 for detail)
- Would members be interested to holding our December meeting with a carvery at the Toby?

Friends of Tividale Park held their AGM on 4th September at the Gurdwara, Dudley Road West Tividale, Oldbury B69 2PJ.
Our Working Group Committee 2018/2019
|Vice Chair||Barbara Blewitt|
|Child Protection||Megan Morris|
Their first official duty were for the Chair and Vice chair to attend a Friends Forum meeting on Thursday 6th September at Lightwoods House with Sandwell’s cabinet Member for Leisure Cllr Bill Gavan and our Parks Manager Darren Jones.
This was attended by around 30 people including around 15 Park Friends groups – a rare opportunity to meet other groups and exchange ideas.
It is planned to make this a quarterly event.
The £2000 Community Grant awarded by Midcounties Co-op has been spent and items for Tividale park are now on order for delivery Late October. We hope to get the WW1 commemorative bench installed for Armistice day.

National Express Foundation
National Express doubled the amount of funding it provided to the charity in 2018 and we have therefore launched an additional funding round this year, for the first time.
A total of £100,000 in additional grants is now available to support even more young people in the West Midlands and Kent.
The National Express Foundation is central to National Express Group’s support for the wider community in which we operate in the UK.
The public order disturbances in July 2011 highlighted the issues facing young people living in inner-city areas in the UK. The disturbances involved a disproportionate number of people in the 15-24 year age group. Unemployment, boredom and lack of motivation among this group were all cited as factors.
The Foundation aims to tackle these issues in two ways:
- Support for students with challenging personal and financial circumstances to enable them to continue with their further and higher education
- The provision of grants to charitable and community groups for projects which support young people to enjoy positive and developmental activities and promote cross-community cohesion and understanding
Our support is currently directed at organisations in the former West Midlands county boundary (served by our bus business) and the Medway, Gravesend and Longfield areas of Kent served by our Kings Ferry and Clarke’s commuter coach services (postcodes ME1-12, ME14, DA3, DA11, DA12 and DA13).
Community groups please click here for further details on how to apply for funding. Colleges and universities please click here.
All applications must be received by no later than Friday 24 August 2018.
In 2018 we secured two grants from the Co-op, the first for chairs which were put to use at our Gala event on 07th July, and £2000 initially earmarked to buy three or four bespoke benches, as per our 2017 goals see http://www.friendsoftividalepark.org.uk/?page_id=702
In March we were consulted by Sandwell Council on the positioning of six new benches which were installed shortly afterwards. Having applied and received the grant money, we have since reconsidered how best to use the money from the Co-op, keeping to the original intent.
Subject Sandwell Council agreement and Co-op agreement Friends of Tividale Park are planning to spend £1786.80 (inc VAT and delivery) on one bench and one pencil bin (to replace the one near the playground) and the balance on wooden art work.
The new bin will fit in well with the playground and encourage people to use it rather than the floor. We plan to also apply for Tesco’s Bags for Life for our next grant.
Vote for the bench you want in the park – The votes cast will be added to those of the groups members. The winning bench announced at our next meeting (August 14th).
How to vote: via this post or by email to email@example.com
Simply state Bench#1 or Bench#2
